Depths That Keep Every Label Visible
Pantry shelves deeper than about 16 inches hide the back row. We run 14 to 16 inch shelves near the floor and step the upper ones back to 10 or 12 inches, so what you own stays in sight. Spacing changes by height too: 16 to 18 inches down low for bulk items, 12 to 14 for cereal boxes and 8 to 10 for cans, with holes drilled so every shelf can move later.
